17 Years of Tradition
OPTAA was formed as a result of concerted efforts of many CMC PT and OT alumni. There was a long latent period and acute need for the organization of alumni members. But for various reasons, the formal alumni association never materialized prior to 2011.
It was in the year 2003; CMC Vellore has seen an organization of Occupational and Physiotherapy Alumni (OPTA) reunion meeting. Read more

OT PT Career and processing in Australia by Joshua Selvadurai, batch of 1999 OT which happened on 13th September,2020. This was online webinar happened around 5.30pm indian standard time. ( Video Link )

Batch of 2015 was officially inducted to OPTAA on 31th August, 2020. This is the first online induction of OPTAA.Dr. Vineet Johnson, batch of 1992 PT was our chief guest. He also conducted online webinar on career opportunities abroad on the same day. ( Video Link )

Mr. Reejan Pradeep Joseph's thanksgiving service, a virtual meet to pay tribute which happened on 23rd August,2020 ( Video Link ).

Batch of 2014 was officially inducted to OPTAA in June 20,2019. Dr. Sundar Kumar, Batch of 1994 PT was chief guest of the event.

The Governing Body headed by Mr. Arun Paul term got over, new governing body was elected by unanimously in general body meeting which happened in 22nd May, 2019. The New Governing body is the 4th Governing body of OPTAA.

Mr. J. Vijayakumar, former incharge, Physiotherapy Services (BPT - Batch of 1971) on November 18, 2015. Let us uphold his wife, Mrs. Jayalakshmi Margaret (former ward sister - 'S' ward), his two daughters, Ms. Hepsibah and Ms. Beulah Reshma and Son, Mr. Artaban Johnson (BPT - alumnus batch of 1999).
About Mr. Vijayakumar :

Mr. Vijayakumar J, Selection Grade Tutor, PMR Department, retired on 4th November 2010, after 35 years of dedicated service to the institution. He joined CMC as a Diploma student in 1971, and thereafter joined as staff in 1975. Since then he has taught several batches of Physiotherapy students. He underwent special training in Cerebral Palsy at the Children’s Orthopaedic Hospital, Mumbai in 1981, and also obtained the Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in 1990. Mr. Vijayakumar has been incharge of the Physiotherapy services from 1988 upto his retirement. His wife, Mrs. Jayalakshmi Margaret, had worked in CMC as a Staff Nurse in M Ward and later in S Ward. They have two daughters and one son
